Lagos agog for Arsenal trio

THREE first-team players of Arsenal-Bacary Sagna, Per Mertesacker and new signing Lukas Podolski yesterday arrived Lagos on  a visit.

The players arrived to a rousing welcome of fans at Murtala Mohammed airport workers at 6p.m amidst tight security.

The security personnel attached to the players had hectic time controlling the passionate Arsenal fans who were bent on feeling the Arsenal players who they were meeting live for the first time.

The players are in Nigeria to take part in Club events and other activities organised by the Club’s partners, Malta Guinness and Airtel.

The visit is a form of compensation forthe disappointment that followed the postponement of Arsenal’s game against Nigeria which was scheduled for August 5.

According to Marketing Manager, Malta Guinness, Emmanuel Agu, the coming of the players would afford followers of the English Premier League in general and fans of Arsenal in particular the forum to interact with the star players.

"We are sure that you will have a most enjoyable visit,'' said Agu.Our fans will also have  the opportunity to interact and get involved with their idols at a number of exclusive events during their stay."
The players will address the press at the Eko Hotel and Suites by 2pm today.
